Is the placement of implants painful? How long does it take?
Everyone is unique and will have a different reaction to the implant placement procedure. In general, most patients feel very little discomfort during placement. In fact, we often hear from our patients that the procedure was much easier than they anticipated - easier, in fact, than having a tooth extracted.
But at Wisconsin Smiles we understand the importance of helping our patients achieve a healthy smile with minimal discomfort. That is why we offer personalized sedation dentistry to help you overcome any anxiety and receive treatment while in a comfortable, relaxed state. We offer oral sedation where Dr. Monteagudo will prescribe a calming medication for you to take before you arrive for your procedure. The type of medication will be selected on your needs and level of anxiety.
The length of the procedure will also vary from patient to patient, and may take anywhere from 30 minutes to several hours. We will be able to give you a more precise time frame after we evaluate your needs.
There’s a lot to know about getting dental implants. Dr. Monteagudo and our team will explain the process in detail, answer all your questions, and make sure that you fully understand the procedure. Please contact our West Allis office to schedule an appointment.
- Both of my parents have worn complete dentures for many years, as have my grandparents. Recently, I lost two of my teeth. Does this mean that I will eventually have to have dentures?
- I lost my upper back teeth on one side and have gone for years without doing anything about it. My sinuses always seem to bother me more on that side than on the side that I have back teeth. Could these problems be related to one another?
