Congratulations on making the decision to get one or more dental implants at our Milwaukee, WI dental office!
Dental implants are a fantastic investment in the future of both the health and appearance of your smile, and you’ll be glad you made this choice.
Your Exam and Evaluation
Placing dental implants involves surgery. The implants are tiny screws that are placed in your jaw bone. As the bone heals, the screws integrate, becoming a permanent part of your bone structure.
This means that we need to confirm that the bone beneath your gums is thick enough and strong enough to support your implants. We do this during a comprehensive examination that includes digital imaging to evaluate the health and density of your bone.
At this point, we will have a better idea of your anatomy and whether you will be a good candidate for dental implants. Even if you aren’t a good candidate now, we can recommend certain procedures to improve the density and health of your bone so that you will be a good candidate for the future.
Developing Your Treatment Plan
Once we’ve determined that you are a good candidate for implants, you and Dr. Monteagudo will work together to plan your implant placement and restoration. Different options are available when it comes to implants, and Dr. Monteagudo will help you decide on the best option for your needs.
You also have options when it comes to restoring the implant. For instance, if you are missing multiple teeth, you might decide on individual implants restored with crowns or an implant-retained bridge.
Dr. Monteagudo will also discuss your medical history and any medications you are taking. In some cases, we may prescribe antibiotics for you to take before your surgery.
We’ll also discuss your anesthesia options. We want to make sure your experience is comfortable and that you feel calm. If you are feeling stressed or anxious about your procedure, please let us know!
We’re looking forward to giving you back the smile you love. If you have any questions or concerns, please call WisconsinSmiles at (414) 383-5833!
