How is CEREC different from traditional crowns?

Traditional crowns require two visits – one for preparation and placement of a temporary crown, and one for placement of the permanent porcelain crown. CEREC requires just one visit and the design process, from the first scan to the milling of the crown, takes about one hour.

What Does CEREC Mean?

CEREC stands for CEramic REConstruction, or Chairside Economical Restoration for Esthetic Ceramics. CEREC uses computer-aided design and manufacturing called CAD/CAM to take fast, precise, and comfortable impressions. CAD/CAM isn’t messy like dental paste or sticky molds, and it creates a precisely fitted filling, crown, veneer, inlay, or onlay. CEREC makes treatment much faster so you can get back to living your life and enjoying your smile in no time!

Can I Trust a CEREC Crown?

With over 20 years of research and over 15 million CEREC restorations worldwide, you can trust a CEREC restoration with confidence.

What makes CEREC a better option for me?

Two words: time and accuracy. Because traditional crowns require more than one visit and a temporary placement that could crack or fall out, you could be making multiple trips to your dentist. Additionally, traditional crowns created from dental impressions are subject to human error. With CEREC, you can have a custom-fitted crown milled and permanently placed in just one appointment.

Is CEREC Only for Crowns?

CEREC can be used for many different restorations, including inlays, onlays, and veneers. Dr. Monteagudo will discuss whether CEREC is suitable for your restorative needs and esthetic smile goals. In some cases, we defer to lab-made restorations for the best possible result.
